We have have had at least two sword-snapping degradation ceremonies this week, but the Japanese animation Namakura Gatana (11917) featured a cute “bit” in which our hero fails to sheath his blade. It was specially nice to have a large range of beach equipment to use. The view from this beautiful characterful house cannot be beaten! A really comfortable, spacious cottage, gorgeously close to the beach and a gentle stroll away from the town.
Holidays in Porthmeor
Focsle is a comfortable home from home with a glorious view of Porthmeor Beach. We’ve been visiting St Ives for over 30 years, and this holiday home is my favourite by far. Gas central heating throughout, external shower, beach cupboard with beach equipment available, WiFi, short breaks available.
Festive fun and top-class racing this winter at Wincanton Racecourse!
But, you both Cutebit getting out for a walk and them napping al fresco could be of real benefit to them as long as they’re suitably wrapped up. The benefits of a baby napping outside in the fresh air have been widely reported recently – a Scandinavian method catching on in the UK. And remember, if you’re using a sling or carrier, your baby will have that wonderful extra source of warmth – your body. In fact, babies sleep better at night if they’ve had some fresh air during the day. The most important thing is that your baby’s body and head are wrapped up well to keep the warmth from escaping.
Book a viewing
We had a BBQ on the beach one evening which was bliss. We loved getting our groceries from Norway Stores which was 3 minutes walk. It was nice and clean on arrival. A comfortable and well equipped cottage. It only takes a couple of minutes but improves the view considerably. Great place right on Porthmeor beach.
Books.
Clock House Station is also within easy walking distance and features a growing parade of local shops, including a popular coffee shop. Birkbeck Station is just 160 yards away, with trains and a tram service connecting to Beckenham Junction and East Croydon (ideal for Gatwick Express connections). There’s definitely scope here to extend on the ground floor, and the end of the garden is an ideal spot for a home office or garden studio; you can do both these things without hugely compromising on the size of the garden.
- So, if you’re in a shirt, sweater and jacket, your baby might need a vest, sleepsuit, jumper and coat (plus hat and gloves as needed).
- Lovely apartment with fantastic views over Porthmeor beach from the lounge.
- The IndustrialistThus for £11 you can get The Industrialist with Bulliet bourbon, vermouth, mescal bitters and maple syrup served over candy floss.
- ‘Microadventure’ (or, worse, #microadventure) is nothing more than a cute bit of branding for “go camping, go ride your bike, go do stuff!
- Harley Young enjoys a Saturday afternoon feast at the newly refurbished neighbourhood pub
- Take time to look at the artwork that is on display at this property.
The ones that cover their ears and cheeks are a great idea for maximum warmth and adorability. It’s especially important to keep your baby’s head warm in winter, so be sure to dress them in a woolly or insulated hat. NHS advice is to take off a baby’s hat and extra clothing just as soon as you come back indoors or get into a warm car, bus or train.
- The dining table is the perfect place for everyone to gather to enjoy time together.
- The cupboard with all the beach stuff in was great (you can use the ladders to get from the gate down to the beach which was about a 5ft drop!).
- St Ives and in particular Porthmeor Beach are for us the ideal holiday location, which is probably why we have now been holidaying annually here for the last 19 years.
- Witness, for example, Holiday Inn UK advertising a weekend break in a city hotel, complete with cafés, bars and restaurants, as a microadventure.
- So for four days we hired a jeep and got out to explore the island in more detail.
- If there is too much padding between your baby and their car seat straps, the seat will not be as safe.
But remember, just as it’s important to layer-up to go outside, you also need to layer down inside. So, if you’re in a shirt, sweater and jacket, your baby might need a vest, sleepsuit, jumper and coat (plus hat and gloves as needed). It’s a good idea to check what you’re wearing and put them in one more layer. Particularly if you’re going to be nipping in and out of houses, shops or cafes. Full-on snowsuits are handy for long periods in freezing cold temperatures, but most of the time, adding and removing layers is the way to go.
Private entrance onto the beach down a quite slipway, large bedrooms, modern bathroom and a really amazing view right from the lounge. We had a fabulous stay at Focal, a first time there. You can plan your beach days by checking our Porthmeor beach webcam. Relax and enjoy the view from one of our many self-catering beach-front apartments in this delightful corner of St Ives.
